"THE POWER OF THE SOARING LIFE" EASTER REFLECTION
Acts 10:34-43
Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed—Alleluia!
Today, we are not just remembering something that happened long ago.
We are celebrating a power—a living, transforming power—that still shapes our lives right now.
Easter tells us this: Even in our darkest moments, God is present. Even when hope seems gone, God is already preparing a new beginning.
From Fear to Boldness
Think about the disciples. After Jesus’ crucifixion, they were not brave. They were afraid. Confused. Heartbroken. They locked themselves in a room, wondering what would happen next. They had never thought about the resurrection, even though Jesus foretold it before his death three times.
Everything they had hoped for seemed lost. But then—something changed. They encountered the risen Christ. And suddenly, fear gave way to courage. Silence turned into bold proclamation.
In the book of Acts, Peter, who once denied Jesus three times, now stands up and declares: “God shows no partiality… Jesus is Lord of all!”
What happened? The resurrection happened. The risen Christ didn’t just comfort them—he transformed them. Their sorrow became joy. Their fear became courage.
And their lives changed the world.
You Were Made to Soar
Let me share a simple story. There was once an eagle’s egg that ended up in a chicken coop. When it hatched, the eagle grew up surrounded by chickens. So it scratched in the dirt. It flapped its wings just a little. It lived like a chicken—because that was all it knew.
One day, it looked up and saw a great bird soaring high in the sky. It asked, “What is that?” The chickens said, “That’s an eagle. He belongs to the sky. But we belong to the ground.” And so the eagle kept scratching in the dirt…never realizing who it really was.
Until one day, someone took that eagle to a mountaintop,
lifted it toward the sky, and encouraged it to fly. “O, eagle, king of birds, you belong to the sky” Soar and fly!” At first, it fell to the ground and it hesitated. Then it tried and finally—it spread its wings… and soared.
Friends, even if someone made up the story, hear this clearly: We are not chickens scratching in the dust. We were made to soar.
Without the hope of the resurrection, we can forget who we are. We can get stuck in fear, worry, and small expectations. But Easter reminds us: We were created for more. We were created for life, for hope, for freedom.
Living as Resurrection People
As Christians, we live in this world—but we belong to something greater. Because of Easter, death is not the end. It is not a closed door—it is an open doorway. It’s like turning off a lamp not because the light is gone, but because the sun has risen.
The light of Christ is greater than any darkness. So, Easter asks us a simple but powerful question: Are you ready to live as resurrection people?
Are you ready to carry hope into hopeless places? Are you ready to bring love into lonely places? Are you ready to speak life where there is despair?
Because the resurrection is not just something to believe in. It is something to live. It is something to experience.
So today, let go of fear. Let go of what holds you down. Lift your eyes. Fix your heart on the risen Christ. And trust that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead
is at work in you.
Friends—spread your wings. It’s time to soar. Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed—Alleluia! Amen.
