DECEMBER 2024 PASTOR’S PONDERING

12/25/2024

This Advent season is especially meaningful for me as we begin a new chapter of ministry together at Stone Presbyterian Church. It is a sacred time, not only for preparing our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but also for deepening our shared commitment to the holy work that God has entrusted to us until Christ comes again.

Last week, I was humbled and honored to be installed as your pastor. I give thanks to Christ Jesus, our Lord, who has strengthened me, judged me faithful, and called me to serve in this ministry (1 Timothy 1:12). Your warm celebration has been a blessing, and I look forward to the journey of faith that we will share together continually.

This Christmas season, I am excited to introduce The Angel Game (please read the attached instructions), inspired by Hebrews 1:14: “Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?” The game invites us to embrace the spirit of service and love in a fun and meaningful way. I believe that God sends angels to serve and protect each of us even when we are unaware.

Here’s how it works: Each participant will secretly act as someone’s “angel,” serving them with small acts of kindness, encouragement, or support over the next three weeks. Feel free to get creative—use messengers, notes, cards, or other imaginative ways to serve and surprise. The angel’s identity will remain a mystery until the final day that when the angel is revealed, the recipient will thank the angel with a small gift. Prayers is necessary during the game.

As we play, let this activity remind us of the angels who serve at God’s command and inspire us to reflect their joy-filled service in our own lives.

May this season fill you and your loved ones with hope, joy, and peace. May the Christ child, born in Bethlehem, be born anew in our hearts, drawing us ever closer to God’s love. Merry Christmas, and may God bless you in the year to come!

In Christ’s love,
Pastor Sarah Lee
